About our school
Scoil Seanáin Naofa moved to its present site in Clonlara in September 1968, with four teachers and approximately 140 pupils.
Today, our school community includes 285 pupils, 17 teachers, six Special Needs Assistants, a secretary and a caretaker.
Our surroundings and heritage
Our school is located approximately 9 km from Limerick city, beside the hydroelectric canal, between the River Shannon to the east and the Sixmilebridge Hills to the west.
Renowned for its scenery, the area has a rich heritage of great houses, castles, folklore and music. Much of this history is explored in the school’s local history DVD, recorded in 2007.
Sport and school life
Scoil Seanáin Naofa has a long tradition of achievement in learning and sport. Our hurling, camogie and football teams participate in the annual Cumann na mBunscol competitions.
This tradition of Gaelic games has helped support the strength of Clonlara GAA and Truagh/Clonlara Camogie Club.
Our school buildings
The original 1968 school building remains part of our campus, alongside a major extension completed in 1985 and a two-storey extension added in 2007.
In 2022, a classroom was converted into The Hub, a dedicated sensory space.
